Pump Priming
The UCL BHF Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) is offering funding (£10,000 - £80,000) to pump-prime new projects and ideas in cardiovascular sciences. These should be proposals that are too preliminary or too high risk for conventional grant funding. Activities that will be funded can include gathering pilot data, developing proof of concept, engagement with a diverse pool of decision makers, sandpit event series, co-production workshops, access to specialised software, research models, and training. Each application must include a minimum of 2 researchers from different disciplines, one of whom is at an early-mid-career research (E-MCR) level. Honorary UCL appointees are eligible to apply in order to promote engagement with clinical partners. The research must be interdisciplinary and aligned with one or more of the UCL BHF CRE themes: Therapeutic Innovation in Rare and Inherited CVD, Engineered Solutions for Structural and Congenital Heart Disease, Heart and Brain, and Ethnicity and Cardiometabolic Health.

Springboard Fellowship
The UCL BHF Centre for Research Excellence (CRE) is offering 1-2 year fellowship opportunities to outstanding post-doctoral researchers, with exceptional research track records for their career stage. We seek to recruit and support the highest calibre early & mid-career researchers (E&MCRs) to establish their independent career and become the cardiovascular research leaders of the future. The call is open to internal (UCL) and external (non-UCL) applicants, and the research must be inter-disciplinary with a specific focus on one or more of the UCL BHF CRE themes: Therapeutic Innovation in Rare and Inherited CVD, Engineered Solutions for Structural and Congenital Heart Disease, Heart and Brain, and Ethnicity and Cardiometabolic Health.
