2015 Academic Promotions Announced

UCL recognises and rewards the outstanding achievements of academic colleagues - We are delighted to announce a number of academic promotions for our outstanding Cancer Institute staff.

Many congratulations to the following scientists who have been promoted to Professor:

• Professor of Medical Oncology, John Bridgewater: clinical researcher, who specialises in gastrointestinal cancer research and leads a laboratory and clinical programme in carcinoma of unknown primary (CUP)
• Professor of Haematology, Adele Fielding: a clinical academic who specialises in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and runs a laboratory program focussed on understanding the genetics of ALL and developing novel therapies for the disease.
• Professor of Cell and Tissue Therapy, Mark Lowdell: research scientist focussed on translational cellular immunotherapy and regenerative medicine.
• Professor of Transplant Science and Cancer Immunotherapy, Karl Peggs: Senior Lecturer in Stem Cell Transplantation and Immunotherapy at UCL and Honorary Consultant in Haematology/Transplantation at UCL Hospitals.
• Professor of Nervous System Tumour Research, Paolo Salomoni: research lead for the Samantha Dickson Brain Cancer Unit, the first UK research centre fully dedicated to brain cancer research. Professor Salomoni specialises in exploring the make-up of brain tumour cells to find new ways of treating glioma brain tumours in children and adults.
