There are over 140 known modifications of RNA, but for most of these a function is not known. We are developing assays and reagents for the analysis of several of these, with emphasis on the characterisation of methylation pathways leading to gene regulation. We have also generated a CRISP screen for RNA modifying enzymes involved in AML-leukaemia, and have identified 29 high confidence targets. For one of these RNA enzymes, we show that it is required for leukaemia in model systems and have identified a novel mechanism by which it acts to regulate gene expression.
The seminar will be followed by a sandwich buffet lunch.
