London: Shaping the city that shapes us

UCL has shaped and been shaped by London for nearly 200 years. When UCL and its wider community work together, we can move quickly and effectively to tackle injustice and inequality on our own doorstep. From funding legal advice for local communities to raising £121 million for new buildings and equipment to opening up the UCL experience to more and more students, It's All Academic is creating opportunities for the capital and its people.

The Centre for Access to Justice (CAJ) epitomises UCL's commitment to serving local London communities with an innovative model to address access to legal support. As the only university in the UK to hold a government legal aid contract, CAJ works on the front line of this challenge, combining legal education and research, providing pro bono advice to vulnerable London communities and fostering the next generation of legal experts, ready to meet the demands of a 21st-century justice system.

And the support of Campaign donors enabled the creation of UCL’s new Student Centre, designed from the ground up with student needs and the student experience at its heart. Providing 1,000 new study spaces for students, the new Centre is a focal point for study, events and student life - an essential space to think, explore, collaborate, discover and challenge.
