Stained glass window

From the late 19th century onwards, Deaf associations built chapels and churches for use by the Deaf community. A number of these had stained glass windows which included signing or fingerspelling. Many of the earlier windows have since been destroyed. The chapel at St Helens retains stained glass windows depicting images and passages from the Bible, with the passages recreated in fingerspelling down each sided of the window.
