The Brexit and Beyond Steering Group was set up immediately after the referendum to discuss, share knowledge of, and support UCL’s research-based response to Brexit.
This group is co-convened by the UCL European Institute and UCL Public Policy, and is chaired by Professor Graeme Reid, UCL’s Chair of Science and Research Policy. It identifies ways in which UCL research and expertise can inform Brexit policy and public debate. The Group also acts as a principal convener of expertise and source of information about Brexit across UCL.
Core activities include:
- managing the UCL Brexit Hub, UCL's public portal for research, academic content and expertise on all Brexit-related matters
- mapping Brexit-related expertise across UCL, developing researcher networks and managing internal databases of UCL’s Brexit expertise
- facilitating and supporting policy engagement, such as ministerial visits, select committee engagement and partnership building
- organising and supporting public events and conferences about Brexit, such as an ‘Ask The Experts’ event with UCL Public Policy and the House of Commons Library
- commissioning a series of policy briefings and working papers, including one on transitional arrangements
- Convening internal roundtables for UCL academics to discuss potential research and external engagement opportunities relating to current policy and legislation.
