Prevention

We will develop preventative measures that will reduce dementia prevalence.

Epidemiological evidence suggests that a significant proportion of dementia is associated with a number of modifiable risk factors, such as smoking, blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes.

Behavioural Change

UCL has expertise from epidemiology, psychiatry, psychology, the cardiovascular field and clinical trials, which offer the potential to calculate individuals' risk and work towards behavioural change. Recruitment of participants from cohort studies to trial health behaviour modifying interventions and large-scale public health interventions offer opportunities to better understand these issues and the UCL Centre for Behavioural Change provides expertise of direct relevance to dementia prevention.
