Catatonia is an important neuropsychiatric disorder that was described in print in 1868 by Karl Kahlbaum. It is a psychiatric emergency and requires prompt recognition and treatment.

About us
This website is written and maintained by Dr Jonathan Rogers and Professor Anthony David at University College London.
Jonathan Rogers is a clinical lecturer and specialty registrar in general adult psychiatry. He conducts research on catatonia and other aspects of neuropsychiatry.
Anthony David is Director of the UCL Institute of Mental Health. He is an honorary consultant neuropsychiatrist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. His research interests are wide-ranging, including schizophrenia, neuropsychiatry, medically unexplained syndromes and neuroimaging.
