Director's Pledges 2026
In support of the Division of Psychiatry’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy, our Director has made the following pledges:
- Develop support and improve understanding of academic/research pathways for MSc students and assess whether this impacts student experience and progression related to protected characteristics.
- Develop and share resources for early career fellowship applicants including application guidance and example applications and explore impact on barriers for ECR career progression related to gender and ethnicity.
- Address career development opportunities for professional services staff by promoting access to the faculty PS mentoring scheme, and providing division-specific guidance on CPD provision.
- Promote LGBTQ+ visibility within the Division of Psychiatry by highlighting LGBTQ+ researchers, history, and scientific contributions, as well as showcasing working group activities through student and staff newsletters.
- Improve new starter experience for disabled staff by providing examples of reasonable adjustments including the process to put these in place, and providing guidance to line managers.
Collect feedback from staff on equality, diversity and inclusion practices within the division via a virtual ‘suggestion box’.
- Create a working group to represent religion/belief equity on the EDI committee, working with other EDI groups to identify potential approaches to enhance inclusion
