Chrysi Anastasaki

Who did you find inspiring at UCL and why?

UCL is home to a diverse group of people motivated to accomplish their studies or research. Interdisciplinary and pioneering themes at UCL have always inspired me to understand my research topics better and gain sophisticated knowledge to continue my education and career.

What is your fondest memory of your time here?

That would be the spaces dedicated to studying and reading - they were very welcoming.

Tell us a bit about the work you’re doing now…

I have begun clinical training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, a diploma programme that includes infant and institutional observations, seminars, and clinical practice. Additionally, I will soon start a research assistant position at the Anna Freud Centre.

How did your UCL degree help you get to where you are now?

During my time at UCL, I had the opportunity to learn from exceptional scientists while gaining hands-on research experience. I ran experiments independently, analysed their data, and disseminated results. Beyond that, UCL provided the latest resources for the topics that fascinated me and fostered critical thinking. These experiences shaped my ability to apply knowledge effectively in other roles.

What have been your career highlights?

Upon graduating from UCL, I was offered a research assistant position at NYU Abu Dhabi and received two PhD offers in Psycholinguistics and Professional Psychology. Additionally, I was accepted into clinical training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, further expanding my academic and professional journey.

What would be your advice for current students?

Stay curious - not just about your degree or topic but about people, places, different ideas, etc.
