Dr Megan A. K. Peters, Lecturer in the UCL PALS Department of Experimental Psychology, has been named a 2026 FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence Scholar.
The FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence brings together outstanding early-career neuroscience researchers based in Europe who are recognised for their scientific excellence, originality and leadership. The 2026 cohort includes 15 new scholars from across 12 European countries, who will join the 2023 cohort to form an active network of 30 scholars across 21 countries.
Dr Peters leads the Reflexion Lab, an interdisciplinary research group investigating how intelligent systems monitor and model their own knowledge, uncertainty and experience. Her work combines cognitive neuroscience, computational modelling, neuroimaging, artificial intelligence and philosophy to better understand how agents evaluate uncertainty, build models of the world and themselves, and how these processes relate to conscious subjective experience.
The FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence was established in 2014 by the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies and the Kavli Foundation. Scholars are selected for two consecutive two-year terms and contribute to a self-organised network that supports scientific exchange, advocacy and outreach in neuroscience across Europe and beyond.
As part of the network, FENS-Kavli Scholars take part in meetings and activities focused on advancing neuroscience, supporting early-career researchers, improving scientific culture and engaging with key challenges facing the research community.

Dr Peters’ selection recognises her contributions to cognitive neuroscience, consciousness science, computational approaches to understanding the mind, and her leadership in building more accessible and collaborative models of scientific education and research.
