PNS award the prestigious Alan J. Gebhart Prize for Excellence in Peripheral Nerve Research each year during their awards ceremony at the PNS Annual Meeting. This award recognizes an Active PNS Member’s ongoing contributions to our mission of “improving the lives of people with peripheral neuropathies.” The unrestricted cash prize is awarded to an established researcher (or researchers) in the peripheral nerve field.

“ I was honoured  to be awarded the 2024 PNS Alan J. Gebhart Prize during the recent Peripheral Nerve Society meeting in Montreal. The PNS is a wonderful society which I had the privilege of being the President of from 2015-2017 and for me to have been chosen for this prize by my peripheral nerve colleagues is particularly special.  This award reflects the work of many present and past members of my excellent research team and I want to thank them all and dedicate this award to them. I also want to thank both UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery for enabling me to develop an inherited neuropathy clinical and research programme. This unique environment is unrivalled and I feel privileged to work here.” Professor Mary Reilly
