Professor Tabrizi,  Professor of Clinical Neurology, Huntington's Disease Centre, Group Leader at UK Dementia Research Institute at UCL, and co-Head of Department of Neurodegenerative Disease, UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, was presented with the award on Tuesday 5th November 2019 at the College by Dr Conor Maguire, Director of Education, RCPE, after giving the Alexander Morison Lecture on “Gene targeting therapies : what does the future hold for neurological disorders?”

Last month, Professor Sarah Tabrizi picked up the Yahr award at the World Congress of Neurology in Dubai.

They are recognition of the tireless efforts of the people affected and their families, and of the colleagues I continue to work with, to find effective therapies for this devastating disease. This is the first time the medal has been awarded to colleagues from not only the same institute, but co-leaders of the same department, following Professor Nick Fox’s award last year.

Professor Fox was awarded the Alexander Morison medal in 2018 by Dr Deepak Dwarakanath the Vice President, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, following his Alexander Morison lecture entitled “A walk around the brain”

About Alexander Morison

While working in London, Alexander Morison was appointed President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh from 1827 to 1829. Morison endowed lectures through the sale of his property starting in 1864 on subjects connected with the mental disease; later extended to cover diseases connected with the nervous system.
