Applications are now invited for a Clinical Research Fellow in the Movement Disorders Centre (MDC), UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, as part of the prestigious international “Edmond J. Safra Clinical Research Fellowship in Movement Disorders“ programme.

UCL MDC is a UK national specialist referral centre, treating thousands of movement disorders patients annually. We offer fellows extensive training covering the entire spectrum of movement disorders, including a range of specialized services such as rare/atypical movement disorder clinics, neurogenetics service, neurophysiology, neuropsychiatry and cognitive clinics, botulinum toxin injections and the UK largest functional neurosurgery service. The MDC is uniquely embedded in UCL, one of the world’s largest neuroscience centres, offering a state of the art research environment spanning the entire spectrum of basic, translational and clinical science.

Fellowship description: This two-year Fellowship will provide high quality training for a suitably motivated individual who seeks to become a future leader in Parkinson’s disease research and clinical care. The Fellow will gain comprehensive clinical skills in the diagnosis, assessment and management of movement disorders whilst participating in a diverse range of specialist clinics, services and educational programmes.
Fellows will also acquire the knowledge and skills essential for effective research governance and management by developing and leading their own research project under the supervision of Senior MDC staff.

The Fellowship will suit neurology specialty trainees seeking out of programme experience, and clinicians seeking post-CCT sub-specialist and research training and experience.

Person qualifications: The successful candidate should be medically qualified with MRCP or equivalent, hold full GMC registration, and have experience in Neurology to SHO/ST2 or above (or equivalent level).

An interest in Movement Disorders clinical practice and research is essential, as are long term career aims to pursue clinical practice and research in Movement Disorders, good communication skills, resourcefulness with ability to act on own initiative, the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment and a very high level of consideration and care for research patients and subjects. An understanding of research methodology and/or previous experience in research is desirable as are evidence of research outputs (e.g. publications, conference presentation).
