New educational appointments to IoO and Moorfields

Mr Mandeep Sagoo, consultant ophthalmic surgeon and senior clinical lecturer, has been appointed MSc Clinical Ophthalmology Programme Director, replacing Professor Susan Lightman who is retiring at the end of the year.

The Programme Director role is a joint Moorfields and IoO role responsible for leading the degree programmes. There are currently two Master of Science degrees (MSc) programmes: MSc Clinical Ophthalmology (one year) and MSc Ophthalmology with Clinical Practice (two years).

Mandeep has a special interest in adult and paediatric eye tumours, his area of specialism at the Trust, St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the London Retinoblastoma Service at Royal London Hospital. 

Professor Susan  Lightman will continue to support the current educational cohort until her retirement at the end of 2018.

Miss Narciss Okhravi, consultant ophthalmic surgeon, has been appointed Director of Studies to support clinical ophthalmology programme teaching as part of the Trust’s joint education strategy with the IoO. 

Since 2004 Narciss has held the position of Director of Undergraduate Education at the Trust. She is an Academy of Medical Educators fellow, holds an honorary senior lecturer post at the UCL IoO, and is Associate Dean and honorary clinical senior lecturer at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. Narciss has a specialist interest in uveitis and medical retina.
