UCL Institute of Neurology is pleased to report on its sixth set of inaugural lectures held on 12th December 2017.

  • Professor Giampietro Schiavo (Professor of Cellular Neuroscience) “The Axonal Transport Machinery and its Impairment in Disease”
  • Professor Huw Morris (Professor of Clinical Neurosciences)“Tangling with Neurodegeneration around the World”

This is the final set of lectures the Institute is hosting in 2017. Please see details of the full series of 2017 inaugural lectures.

"In my career, I had the honour and privilege to work in several fantastic research institutes and Universities in Europe and USA, working in partnership with the brightest minds. However, it is at the UCL Institute of Neurology that I found the perfect equilibrium between basic and clinical research and a genuine aspiration and drive to change the future of human health”. Professor Giampietro Schiavo
"We are entering a very exciting phase in research into diseases such as PSP, Parkinson’s and the diseases that cause dementia.  Thirty years of work by investigators around the world, largely driven by the study of rare families with inherited forms of these diseases, has led to a raft of new trials of powerful biologic disease modifying therapies.  I am delighted to have joined the Institute of Neurology, Royal Free Hospital and National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery where our work focusing on studying the genetics and biology of these diseases, based on patients and families, can be translated into new therapies.  The Institute of Neurology has unrivalled resources for the multi-disciplinary investigation, amelioration and solution of these diseases” Professor Huw Morris
