The British Academy has announced the 2016 winners
of its prizes and medals, and we are delighted that Dr Stephen Fleming (Wellcome Trust Centre for
Neuroimaging, UCL Institute of Neurology) has won the Wiley Prize for Psychology, for his
contribution to the study of the neuropsychology of human metacognition.
This annual prize, in partnership with the publisher, Wiley, provides an award of £5,000 in recognition of excellence in research in psychology. It alternately rewards lifetime achievement by an outstanding international scholar and promising early career work by a UK-based psychologist.

I have benefited from superb mentorship during my early career at Queen Square, and this award owes much to the many individuals who have supported my interests in metacognition. We hope that this research will ultimately reveal the brain mechanisms that support self-reflection, and lead to a better understanding of changes in the self and conscious awareness that characterise disorders of mental health" Dr Stephen Fleming
The prizes will be formally celebrated at the Academy’s
annual awards ceremony on 27th September.
