We are delighted to announce that Professor Karl Friston (Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging, UCL Institute of Neurology) has won this prestigious award. The award was created in 2010 to honour Dr. Branch for his lifetime achievement as a distinguished neurosurgeon, prolific scholar, and generous humanitarian.

Each year, the Center for BrainHealth bestows the award upon a pioneering neuroscientist whose innovation has made a tremendous contribution to the area of brain research.

Professor Friston is a theoretical neuroscientist and authority on brain imaging. Among his many accomplishments, he invented statistical parametric mapping, voxel-based morphometry and dynamic causal modeling. These techniques are essential to modern human brain mapping and network-based analysis.

He is Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellow and Scientific Director of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging, Professor at the UCL Institute of Neurology, and an Honorary Consultant to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Professor Friston will give the keynote address at the Center for BrainHealth Research Symposium on April 14th 2016.
