UCL Institute of Neurology – in collaboration with the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurology and the Epilepsy Society - has been ranked as the world’s top institution for epilepsy research.

Work carried out by the organisations has topped a new league published today by Expertscape - an organisation dedicated to helping consumers find health professionals with extensive expertise in their specific area.

Epilepsy Society's medical director, and Professor of Neurology and Clinical Epilepsy at UCL’s Institute of Neurology, Professor Ley Sander has also been ranked as the world's leading expert on epilepsy. The rankings have been based on published peer-reviewed research over the last 10 years.

Professor Ley Sander said:  'UCL Institute of Neurology has a unique arrangement with the Epilepsy Society and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery which ensures academic and clinical excellence, patient input and relevance of our medical research. We believe that research into epilepsy represents the best hope of finding a cure for epilepsy, and eventually preventing it altogether.'
