The MMI’s mission is to advance the understanding of human-AI interactions, harness insights from neuroscience to shape the development of intelligent machines and employ machines as powerful tools to unravel the mysteries of the human mind.
Rather than mind, brain, and computation constituting separate lines of inquiry, we believe they mutually inform and constrain one another. Our training and research missions follow from this perspective.
Our center’s focus lies in unraveling the complexities of the human mind through a synergistic approach that combines expertise in neuroscience, cognitive science, and AI technology. By studying the dynamic interplay between human cognition and machine intelligence, we aim to gain insights into the nature of intelligence and its manifestation in both biological and artificial systems. Our research also touches on critical societal challenges that emerge from human-AI interactions such as the spread of misinformation.
The research integrates an experimental approach, computational modeling and theoretical frameworks, as well as collaborative partnerships, and educational outreach. By engaging in interdisciplinary collaborations and forging strong industry partnerships, we aspire to create a vibrant hub for cutting-edge research and intellectual exchange, driving advancements in the realms of minds, brains, and machines.
