Why did you choose to apply to this programme?
After finishing my Master’s in Biochemistry in Copenhagen I found that I had a scientific background where I hadn’t really been introduced to all its applications. It was very easy to pick the academic pathway that would allow me to continue working in a laboratory, but I knew I didn’t want to restrict myself to laboratory research. I chose to apply to this programme because I wanted to employ my skills and passion for research to have a more direct impact on the healthcare industry. Ultimately, the programme was fundamental in merging my love for science with my interest in business and it could introduce me to the entire value chain and all its applications from scientific discovery to market entry.
What have you enjoyed most about the programme so far?
I’ve really enjoyed how interdisciplinary the courses are and how relevant they are to my background. I could’ve chosen to study ‘just’ Entrepreneurship and Innovation and I wouldn’t have understood exactly how to apply the knowledge from my strictly scientific background. Additionally, the course strategy focuses on continuous application rather than learning by memorization which is very different from the learning approach from my previous studies.
What are your future career goals?
Ideally, I would love to work as venture analyst within the healthcare sector. More generally, I want to work in an innovative environment where I can be involved in many different projects. However, I am currently letting myself be inspired by the course and the various career pathways we are introduced to and ultimately, I’m conducting an internship with a biotech start-up that is currently applying for funding where I can hopefully confirm my interests.
What would be your top tip for incoming students?
My top tip for incoming students would be to be creative and apply yourself. Don’t be nervous to explore different pathways and challenge your comfort zone. Lastly, don’t restrain yourself because you are unsure of what you ultimately want to do. In my case, I found that most of my co-students were just as lost as I was when the programme started.
