On the occasion of his Inaugural Lecture, we spoke to Sajjad Ahmad, Professor of Corneal Regeneration.

Tell us a bit about your work
My research involves studying the role of stem cells in corneal healing. This involves taking laboratory findings and translating these into new therapies for blinding corneal diseases.
Why is your research important?
My research aims to develop new treatments for otherwise blinding corneal diseases.
What inspires you in your work?
Always my patients and my family.
What has been your most memorable career moment so far?
Seeing the results of my first stem cell treatment, and the look on my patient's face.
What do you like to do outside work?
Any form of exercise.
What book is currently on your bedside table?
Always the Quran.
