The Academic Careers Office (ACO) at UCL is part of the Office of the Vice Provost for Health (OVPH). The OVPH's mission is to enhance external relationships in biomedicine with a range of medical research organisations, NHS included. The ACO promotes, supports and develops many aspects of academic in health related disciplines across UCL. These resources are offered by the Therapeutic Innovations Networks (TINs @UCL). The TINs is a specific framework embedded in the Translational Research Office (TRO) and partnered with NIHR Biomedical Research Centres (UCLH, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Moorfields eye hospital) for education, training and outreach of early career researchers.

The development of a device follows different regulations compared to a biologic. It is also good practice to have an idea of the category to which the device belongs. The online tool RegMetrics is a digital platform to support health technology innovators in navigating the medical device regulations.
