Power-PD is being led by James Alexander (Chief Investigator) as part of his Doctoral studies, alongside his academic supervisors. Meet the team delivering the Power-PD study.
Chief Investigator
James Alexander is a Clinical Academic Physiotherapist and Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Neurosciences, based at University College London. He is also a Highly Specialist Physiotherapist at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. He is currently undertaking his Doctoral studies under supervision from Prof Anette Schrag and is investigating a novel intervention to support physical self-management in people with Parkinson's disease.
Academic Supervisor
Professor Schrag is a Professor of Clinical Neuroscience and Consultant Neurologist at University College London (UCL). Research has focused on Parkinson’s disease, including diagnosis and clinical outcomes, clinical management of patients, including the psychiatric, cognitive and other non-motor aspects of Parkinson’s disease and clinical trials for better treatments of Parkinson's.
Academic Supervisor
Fiona is Professor of Rehabilitation Research within the Population Health Research Institute; professional background is a physiotherapist and she is also the lead for Bridges Self-Management. Fiona’s research has focused evaluating self-management approaches within healthcare teams including stroke, acute brain injury and major trauma.

Dr Gita Ramdharry is a Consultant Allied Health Professional in Neuromuscular Diseases at the Queen Square/ MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), part of University College London Hospital. Gita’s research has centred on supporting people with neuromuscular diseases, more specifically Charcot Marie Tooth. She combines her academic role with her clinical work as a Consultant Physiotherapist at the NHNN.
