Opening hours

Our standard opening hours and any scheduled changes are listed below. As we may have to occasionally alter our opening hours at short notice, always check this page before travelling.

Standard opening hours:

Remember to check for any short-term changes below. Please note that access to the building is restricted after 18.00; please arrive before 18.00 for guaranteed entry. Our core enquiry hours are Monday-Friday 09.00-17.00.

  • Monday - 09.00-19.00.
  • Tuesday - 09.00-19:00.
  • Wednesday - 09.00-19.00 (10.00-19.00 on the first Wednesday of each month).
  • Thursday - 09.00-19.00. 
  • Friday - 09.00-19.00. 
  • Saturday - Closed.
  • Sunday - Closed.

Changes to opening hours:

Tuesday 24th June 2025 - Due to a staff training day, all UCL Libraries, including Queen Square Library will be closed on Tuesday 24 June except for the following sites which will remain open for reference on this day: 

  • Student Centre
  • Main Library
  • Graduate Hub

Accessing Queen Square Library:

  • Membership - the Queen Square Library remains open for UCL Library members only. For information about how to join, visit our using the Library webpage. 
  • Access to the building - if the front door of the building is closed, please phone 020 3448 4709 upon arrival at 23 Queen Square.
  • Access to the library space via the front door of the building is via a short flight of stairs to the ground floor of the building and then stairs or a lift to the 1st floor. A platform lift is available to reach the ground floor but please contact us in advance to arrange for an operator to be available. This is the only step free access into the building.

Accessing other UCL Libraries, study spaces and computers:

  • ION students can access desktop@ucl computers in the 2 cluster rooms in 7 Queen Square.
  • UCL Library members can access study spaces and computers in other UCL Libraries. For updates and information about library services across UCL, please check the UCL Library Services web site and always check the opening hours page before you travel to campus.
  • UCLH staff who are UCL Library members can access UCLH computers in UCL Cruciform Hub.
  • Some UCL Library sites have bookable group study and single study pods for UCL students. There are filters for the following types of space: Quiet Study Seat/Space; Social Study Seat/Space; Enclosed Study Room/Pod; Laptop Docking Station with Monitor (USB-C).
