The Queen Square Library has a collection of over 10,000 printed books and UCL Library Services is also actively collecting increasing numbers of e-books. To find out which books are already available search Explore (the library catalogue).
We welcome book suggestions, please visit our suggestion page. Wherever possible we will buy the books you suggest though we are constrained by the limits of our budget and must give higher priority to books that are of interest to more than one person.
For more information about our print and e-book collections see below. Also see: recent acquisitions, books for sale, how to suggest a book for purchase, rare books collection.
- Print books - search using Explore (the library catalogue) to find the book and find the shelfmark. Shelfmarks beginning NEUROLOGY... are kept in the Queen Square Library. Please ask if you need help locating the book(s) you need.
- E-books - collections have been purchased by UCL (for university staff & students) and by the NHS (for NHS staff):
- E-books for UCL users. Please note that most UCL e-books will require you to log in with your UCL credentials.
- E-books for NHS users. NHS e-books are accessed via the Knowledge and Library Hub (log in using your NHS OpenAthens account and search for keywords, then use the filters to limit your results to e-book content). NHS staff who are registered as members of UCL Library Services can access some UCL e-books, and other UCL e-content by visiting one of the UCL libraries and using an Explore Access Point (EAP).
Print books kept in Neurology Store or UCL Stores
If Explore shows a book's location as either Neurology Store or Stores it will be an older book, kept in off-site storage, so you will not be able to find it yourself on the library shelves. If the location is shown as STORE-NO7 or Neurology Store the item is kept in our local storage area at Queen Square; please use the Click & Collect service to request items. If the location is shown as Stores the item is in the UCL off-site storage facility in Essex; please request items using the Stores service.
Borrowing a print book from the Queen Square Library
Registered users may borrow books - see our Services page for more details.
Is the book held in another library?
- Search for books held by libraries outside UCL via each library's catalogue. A list of key libraries can be found on our other libraries page (including the British Library, Wellcome Library, BMA etc.). Some libraries also include details of their holdings in the Jisc Hub.
- To request the loan of a book from another library use the interlibrary loans service. This service is available to registered library users based in Queen Square and Wakefield Street (including IoN staff & students, NHNN staff, and UCL staff based in Queen Square). Please note that a charge is made for this service.
