Symposium on Circuits of Suffering and Control

Circuits of Suffering and Control brings together leading experts in neuroscience and neurosurgery to explore the brain systems underlying psychiatric illness and their modulation through surgical and circuit-based approaches. Professor Rees Cosgrove will share his extensive clinical experience in lesional surgery for treatment-resistant obsessive–compulsive disorder, while Professor Timothy Behrens will examine the role of cingulate and medial prefrontal circuits in intention and goal-directed behaviour. Professor Sameer Sheth will then bridge basic and clinical neuroscience by mapping circuits of suffering from Connectomics to therapeutic translation. The session concludes with an interactive panel discussion with the faculty, followed by a drinks reception.
