Virtual: Ensnared – The Inescapable Reality of Fatigue
A series of online digital artworks and an immersive physical installation with sculpture, sound and projected imagery, inviting an audience to experience the visceral reality of life with post stroke fatigue.
Commissioned by neuroscientist Dr Anna Kuppuswamy, Ensnared has been conceived and created by artist Sofie Layton. The themes were developed through a series of narrative workshops with stroke survivors. The resulting stories and metaphors have inspired the work in its different iterations.
This is an opportunity to explore a project that sits at an intersection between scientific, artistic and clinical research and practice. The discussion will be candid about the nature of collaboration, working across professional boundaries, engaging with experts in lived experience and navigating the challenges of COVID 19.
You will also be treated to the premiere of Babis Alexiadis’ beautiful two minute hand drawn animation which draws on stroke survivor’s metaphorical narratives.
