Brain meeting

Many psychiatric disorders arise during adolescence, a time when the brain undergoes fundamental reorganisation. However, it is unclear whether and how the emergence of mental health problems is linked to aberrant neurocognitive development. In my talk, I will highlight the importance of development for understanding psychiatric disorders, demonstrate how psychiatric traits are linked to adolescent brain myelination, and illustrate why computational neuroscience approaches could be critical in understanding psychiatric disorders. With this whirlwind tour of five years at the FIL, my talk may also provide insight into the coming of age of computational psychiatry as a field.
