Ear Care and Microsuction
This is a joint course between UCL Ear Institute and Ear Care Academy.

This section allows you to book onto our 1-day Ear Care and Microsuction theory course. The next available course is at UCL Ear Institute on Friday 12th September 9am to 4pm. All our main trainers will be teaching on this theory course. Part A is a mandatory pre-requisite for the subsequent Part B – Practical training (see below).
This theory only 1-day course takes place at the UCL Ear Institute and is designed to provide theoretical knowledge on the anatomy and physiology of the ear, common ear pathologies, history and examination of ear conditions as well as the basic principles of binocular microscopy, the difference between magnification methods/modalities such as ENT microscopy, loupes, video-otoscopes.
The course also describes topics of informed consent, indications and contraindications of microsuction, potential complications and how to address them, types of equipment needed to perform the procedure, infection control, record keeping, risk assessment, medicolegal issues as well as the business aspects of setting up a microsuction clinic.
This course can be booked as a standalone course by interested parties. Eligible professionals are able to (within 12 months) book into our 2-day practical module at West Middlesex Hospital for an additional £1000. The latter course can be booked upon successful completion of the theory module”.
