Career Support for Professional Services and Technical Staff
The IoO is committed to helping Professional Services and Technical staff build their career, offering many opportunities for support.
The IoO supports the following initiatives:
Since 2020, the IoO has organised career advice surgeries for Professional Services and Technical staff. This is a chance for staff to discuss career plans and get one-to-one advice from senior leaders within, and beyond, the Institute. 100% of attendees said they would recommend these career surgeries to colleagues.
In 2022, we expanded our offering to all Professional Services and Technical staff in the Faculty of Brain Sciences, and from 2023, these are being organised at faculty-level.
IoO staff are able to join the Faculty of Brain Sciences mentoring scheme and gain assistance in identifying and meeting personal and professional objectives.
For further information, please visit the faculty mentoring scheme webpage.
As starting a new role can be both an exciting and daunting process, new starters at IoO are allocated a buddy - informal, peer-to-peer support and a friendly face during those first few weeks.
If you'd like to become a Buddy, please contact Ah-Lai Law, IoO Athena Swan Project Manager (ioo-equality@ucl.ac.uk).
