British Hospital for Diseases of the Skin

No other names, but not to be confused with the National Institution for Diseases of the Skin

History

It was a specialist hospital founded in Great Marlborough Street in 1864, with other later branches (also outside Bloomsbury) listed in Dickens’s Dictionary of 1879

It no longer exists

What was reforming about it?

It was one of the new specialist hospitals which abounded in the nineteenth century, many of them in Bloomsbury

It had an outpatients department at 29 Euston Road by 1897 (Whitaker’s Almanack, 1897)
