Do proteins explore the same conformations in the highly crowded environment of the cytosol as in dilute solution? Developing our understanding of protein structure within the cell is important not only for understanding fundamental processes, but also as the basis for improved intervention strategies. We are therefore developing in-cell NMR spectroscopy for the study of the conformational properties of proteins within living cells.
