6 May 2025
UCL’s Karoline Kuchenbaecker, Muhammad Ayub and Muhammad Umar have created a new GWAS workshop together with researchers from Harvard University, entitled “Decoding the genetics of complex diseases: A short course in GWAS bioinformatics and data analysis”.

It took place in April in Lahore, Pakistan. Out of 450 applicants 30 researchers from institutes across Pakistan were selected to participate in this fully funded workshop. The workshop spanned over 4 days and covered a wide range of topics in complex trait genetics accompanied by hands on practical sessions. Participants described the workshop as unique opportunity where they get to learn cutting edge analysis techniques in genetics. The workshop was a great success with outstanding ratings from participants and many new connections formed. The international lecturers greatly enjoyed meeting the participants and learning more about Pakistan’s research landscape in genetics. This workshop was organised by our fantastic collaborators from the Pakistani Institute of Omics and Health Research (IOHR). Funding was generously provided by the European Research Councial via the DIVERGE project.
