JBS Haldane Lecture awarded to Dr Adam Rutherford

The Genetics Society has announced that Dr Adam Rutherford is the winner of the 2023 JBS Haldane award.

The JBS Haldane Lecture recognises an individual for outstanding ability to communicate topical subjects in genetics research, widely interpreted, to an interested lay audience. This speaker will have a flair for conveying the relevance and excitement of recent advances in genetics in an informative and engaging way. The date for the annual open lecture will be confirmed in due course.

Adam Rutherford is a lecturer in the Department of Genetics, Environment and Evolution, as well as being a presenter for the BBC, and writer. He did his PhD at UCL's Institute for Child Health in developmental genetics, and worked as an editor at the journal  Nature. He presents Inside Science and Start the Week on BBC Radio 4, and with Hannah Fry, the Curious Cases of Rutherford and Fry. He has written six books, including the Sunday Times Bestsellers How to Argue With a Racist, A Brief History of Everyone Who Ever Lived. His latest book is Control: the Dark History and Troubling Present of Eugenics.
