Anatomical Society Image Prize awarded to CDB PhD student Adam Moverley

28 November 2022

Congratulations to CDB PhD student Adam Moverley (Stern Lab), whose research image 'Somite rostrocaudal identity' (shown below) has won the Anatomical Society's Best Image Award 2022.

Somite rostrocaudal identity

Adam's image shows a 3D maximum projection of a whole mount chicken embryo at stage HH11 constructed from a confocal stack. Hybridization chain reaction shows Uncx4.1 (green) and EphA4 (magenta) alongside DAPI (cyan). This reveals the rostral (EphA4) and caudal (Uncx4.1) identity of cells in newly forming somites.

Adam was joined amongst the winners by former CDB postdoc, Dr Marc Jones (Natural History Museum). Marc's image 'Fossil salamander face on' won joint runners-up prize.
