Discover2Dream initiative from IHA staff, works with schools to explore research professions

Recently members of the IHA gave a talk at Montem Primary School as part of Discover2Dream (D2D). D2D is an educational initiative aimed at giving underprivileged students of all ages exposure to young professionals with whom they can relate. Speakers are mainly young BAME women who represent a variety of backgrounds and professions. The initiative was co-founded in 2018 by Carina Kern from the Gems lab, aiming to allow students to discover opportunities available to them and encourage them to dream big. Previous D2D events involving scientists from GEE included a group of over 200 students from Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School visiting UCL, with talks given by Prof Nikolas Maniatis and Dr Lawrence Bellamy.
