The same genetic lineage of blast fungus caused outbreaks in Zambia and Bangladesh

Dr Hernan Burbano shows that the same genetic lineage of Magnaporthe oryzae caused wheat blast outbreaks in both Zambia (2018-2020) and Bangladesh (2016-2020).

The genotyping of 84 SNPs in multiple grasses permitted the identification of the epidemic lineage responsible for the outbreaks.
