Mother's curse is pervasive across a large mitonuclear Drosophila panel

The maternal inheritance of mitochondrial DNA modulates male life-history traits in a more generalisable way than previously demonstrated.
A large Drosophila mitonuclear panel comprising nine nuclear genomes, each coupled to nine mtDNA haplotypes for a total of 81 strains was screened for wing size, as this trait is known to differ between the sexes.
