Sleep circuits and physiology in non-mammalian systems
In this review, Declan Lyons and Jason Rihel highlight recent insights into the regulation of sleep that have emerged from the study of non-mammalian species, especially zebrafish and fruit flies. They emphasize several findings that were first demonstrated in these species and subsequently found to control mammalian sleep.
