Sara Javidnia awarded the 2020-2021 Persia Mirzakhani Scholarship prize

A graduate of Tehran University, Ms Javidnia joined the Alic lab to study the effects of RNA polymerase III on ageing. The Mirzakhani Scholarship for Women, awarded by the Persian Educational Foundation is named in honour of the late mathematician, Maryam Mirzakhani (May 1977-July 2017). Professor Mirzakhani was the first woman to win the prestigious Fields Medal in mathematics and the scholarship named in her honour is designed to support women of Iranian descent studying STEM subjects at graduate level at UCL.
