How we perform

The Division of Biosciences at UCL is one of the world's foremost centres for research and teaching in the biological sciences. We have an outstanding international reputation and a community of over 500 staff and 300 PhD students engaged in cutting edge research and collaboration.
  • UCL is the top university in London and the second in the UK for research power.  In the latest REF exercise, 93 per cent of our research was graded 4* ‘world leading’ and 3* ‘internationally excellent’. According to REF 2021
  • UCL has the best staff to student ratio in the UK with 10.1 students to each member of academic staff. According to The Complete University Guide 2022
