Human Population Genetics

We are interested in the analysis of human genetic diversity both from a population history perspective and in terms of identifying genes responsible for phenotypic variation in the population.

We have a major focus on populations from the American continent, both Native Americans as well those established subsequent to the European colonial expansion into the region. The remarkable history of this continent offers unique opportunities for examining fundamental questions about human evolution and the genetic basis of human phenotypic variation.

Andres Ruiz Linares is currently Professor of Human Genetics at the Genetics, Evolution & Environment (GEE) department at UCL and chair of CANDELA (Consortium for the Analysis of the Diversity and Evolution of Latin America).
