We are delighted to present this week's ISMB Seminar Series speaker, Marina Rubini from University College Dublin, and their talk, "Non-natural amino acids and bio-orthogonal ligations for studying protein folding and post-translational modifications".
Host: Jerome Gouge
Dr. Rubini utilizes non-natural amino acids (nnAAs) to explore protein folding and post-translational modifications. By incorporating nnAAs into glycoproteins, she can systematically examine the impact of N-linked glycans on protein-protein interactions. Another major aspect of her research focuses on using nnAAs to investigate protein folding pathways, particularly through substituted proline analogues, which enhance conformational stability without altering the overall protein structure.
Through the integration of nnAAs across these diverse applications, her work deepens our understanding of protein stability, enzyme function, and therapeutic protein engineering.
