About the Speaker
Dr Izzy Bishop
Lecturer (Teaching) Ecology at University College London
My interest in applied freshwater ecology stems from my MSc in Aquatic Resource Management, which I studied at King’s College London. I moved to UCL for my PhD in Physical Geography, in which I investigated the causes for the declining distribution of the rare aquatic plant Najas flexilis. The findings from this work have been used by NatureScot (formerly Scottish Natural Heritage) to inform conservation efforts for this protected species. Post-PhD I worked for the environmental NGO Earthwatch Europe, where I ran a global citizen science project called FreshWater Watch, before returning to UCL as a Lecturer in Ecology.
