UCL Centre for Life’s Origins and Evolution (CLOE)

UCL Centre for Life’s Origins and Evolution (CLOE) is an interdisciplinary centre based in UCL’s Department of Genetics, Evolution and Environment.

The research in CLOE is organised around three grand themes: the origins of life and its major innovations; the pattern of evolution at all time scales and across the tree of life; and the processes that underpin the emergence of biological complexity and diversity.

Alongside research, CLOE offers training opportunities, including hosting postdoctoral fellows and supervising research students through the NERC London Doctoral Training Partnership and the BBSRC London Interdisciplinary Doctoral programme (LiDO).
