Winners of the Biosciences Research Poster Competition

18 March 2014

On Tuesday 4 March, the Division of Biosciences ran a Research Poster Competition which offered graduate students a chance to meet, advertise and discuss the innovative research they are undertaking, thereby providing them with an opportunity to raise the profile of their research.

Entries were displayed in the North Cloisters, and the exhibition attracted interest among academics and other graduate students. The standard of the posters was excellent and we would like to congratulate all those who presented and gave a three-minute talk to the judges about their posters.

The winners of the Biosciences Research Poster Competition were:

  • First prize (£250): Rebecca McKelvey
  • Runner-up (£100): Victoria Vaccaro

“This was a wonderful occasion that enabled me to discuss my research with my peers. The questions I received from the judges were insightful, interesting and helpful. Thank-you for organising this opportunity!” - Rebecca McKelvey, PhD student in Professor Fitzgerald’s research group, NPP.

The posters entered into the Biosciences competition are displayed in the Biosciences PhD Student Hub (rooms LG40/41 of the Medical Sciences Building).

The prizes were kindly provided by the Director of the Division of Biosciences, Professor Frances Brodsky.

The Division of Biosciences would also like to thank Dr Stephen Price, Dr Lazaros Foukas, Professor Ivan Gout and Dr Stefan Trapp for acting as judges.

Well done to the winners and to all those who took part.
