Professor Dan Bracewell Awarded Prestigious Donald Medal

UCL Biochemical Engineering is proud to announce that Professor Dan Bracewell has been awarded the Donald Medal by the IChemE. This prestigious award recognises outstanding services in biochemical engineering, and places Dan among distinguished figures in the field.

Professor Bracewell joins a celebrated group of UCL academics who have previously received the Donald Medal, including Professor Mike Hoare, Professor Nigel Titchener-Hooker, and Professor Gary Lye, all of whom have helped shape the discipline of biochemical engineering through their research, leadership, and innovation.

In response to receiving the award, Dan shared,
 “It’s a great honour to be awarded the Donald Medal from IChemE. Looking at the list of previous winners makes one realise there is a lot to live up to!”

This recognition highlights Professor Bracewell’s significant contributions to the advancement of biochemical engineering, including his pioneering research, academic leadership, and industry collaboration.

The IChemE Medals and Prizes celebrate individuals whose work has brought about meaningful, positive change, advancing both the profession and the wider world. The 2025 awardees were recently announced as part of IChemE’s commitment to recognising excellence in chemical and biochemical engineering.
