James Allen made HEA Fellow
29 November 2021
Congratulations to Dr James Allen who has been recognised as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) by UCL Arena
UCL Arena awards fellowships on the basis of staff members’ experience of teaching, supporting students’ learning or leading an aspect of education at UCL.
The reviewers' feedback in this application commended him in particular for
- ‘proactively seeking out opportunities which go beyond the usual roles and responsibilities of research-focused staff’
- ‘commitment to and direct engagement with issues of widening participation
- ‘mentoring of colleagues in research roles.'
“It is a testament to the Biochemical Engineering department that they have given research staff the opportunities to develop teaching experience and that they support them so well to complete these applications. It is a pleasure to be recognised for contributions to the department and to see that UCL is as passionate as I about widening participation in teaching and learning in higher education.” Dr James Allen, November 2021
UCL Biochemical Engineering now has numerous members of its teaching team recognised for excellence by UCL Arena and are proud to support all their staff to become recognised for their efforts in continuing professional development.
