Clone of Research
UCL Biochemical Engineering is a world leader in bioprocess research creating novel engineering solutions to underpin future biomanufacturing operations across a range of sectors.
In the recent Research Excellence Framework assessment (REF2014), 90% of our research activity was rated either ‘World Leading’ or ‘Internationally Excellent’.
ACBE
The interdisciplinary Advanced Centre for Biochemical Engineering (ACBE) coordinates bioprocess research and training across UCL and with numerous external collaborators from academia and industry.
ACBE research spans fundamental studies through to their application and impact on clinical and commercial practice.
Biochemical Engineering comprises three major themes: Industrial Biotechnology, Macromolecular Bioprocessing and Cell & Gene Therapy Bioprocessing
We apply several tools in UCL Biochemical Engineering, including USD (ultra scale-down), High Throughput Bioprocess Design, Synthetic Biology and Decisional Tools
We host several centres, including EngD and Centres for Doctoral Training, the Targeted Healthcare Medicine Manufacture Hub, Vax Hub and Gates Foundation Vaccine Centre
UCL Biochemical Engineering hosts two Centres of Excellence: the UCL-Pall Biotech CoE for research and training and (Suzy?)
